Library Space Planning Meeting (family-friendly event!)

Library Space Planning Meeting (family-friendly event!) In-Person

The library is embarking on a renovation project to meet the current and future needs of staff and the public. The focus of this project is to improve the user experience and add square footage without major building expansion.
All throughout July 2024, the library was running a public survey to gather feedback from the community.

During this event, Library Director Sarah Lesko will update attendees on the survey results and present preliminary floor plans during a tour of the library. This will be followed by an open forum for attendees to discuss their ideas and suggestions and a chance to get involved in various committees that focus on design, community engagement, youth spaces, advocacy or technology.

Architect Carla Haskell, commissioned to create the floor plans, will also be present at the event. Haskell is the owner of Design Group Collaborative in Ellsworth, a LEED-certified architect, a past president of The Grand’s Board of Directors, and the current chair of the board of directors of Ellsworth’s Historical Society, where she plays an active role in the Old Jail Preservation Committee.

Light snacks will be provided. Families are encouraged to attend. The library will offer a creative pop-up space for the youngest attendees, where they can sketch or draw their ideal library.

This event is a collaboration with Heart of Ellsworth, which promotes artistic, economic, educational, environmental, cultural, and historic activities in the "Downtown" area of the city of Ellsworth, Maine to provide a vibrant community for all residents, businesses, non-profit organizations and local Government.

This event is open to all.
