Covering Russia's Borderlands During War: A Talk by Journalist Levi Bridges In-Person
Since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, millions of Ukrainian refugees and Russians fleeing their country's authoritarian government have fled to former Soviet countries in Europe and Central Asia. Freelance journalist Levi Bridges of Sedgwick, Maine, has been reporting on this migration for NPR shows from his base in the former Soviet republic of Kyrgyzstan.
Bridges is currently back in Maine and will give a presentation about life in Kyrgyzstan and how the Ukraine war has influenced the former Soviet countries near Russia's border.
About Levi Bridges:
Levi was previously based in Mexico City where he covered Latin America, received a Fulbright scholarship and produced a bilingual audio series in English and Spanish about immigration called MigRadio. His work has appeared in outlets like The World, The Associated Press, Marketplace and NPR's podcast Radio Ambulante.
