March Art Show: Infinite Variations on Textural Themes In-Person
March Artist: Judith M. Felch
"The works in this exhibition span a variety of media, from graphite, colored pencil, oil pastel to fabric collage. The pieces explore familiar subjects for Down East observers, including Stonington rocks, lobster fishing buoys and boats, the sea and horizon. The commonality to all pieces in this show is the ever varied, surprising, and engaging texture.
This is simulated texture as experienced through the illusion of stroking a physical surface. This is engaging the senses through vivid feelings of touch, although created on a two-dimensional surface. This is a suggestion, enticement, and invitation to feel the moss, the grass, the wet rocks in your imagination. The works in this show invite one to explore luscious surface textures."
