Maine Rockweed Coalition In-Person

Discover Maine’s Seaweed Forests

Join us for a special pop-up table hosted by the Maine Rockweed Coalition to learn about the vital role seaweed forests play in our coastal ecosystems. The mission of the 501c3 Coalition is to protect Maine's intertidal seaweed forest, known as rockweed, for commercial fisheries and for wildlife as well as for live rockweed "trees"! Explore how sustainable harvesting practices and thoughtful conservation efforts can protect these underwater habitats for generations to come. Discover simple actions you can take to help preserve Maine’s coastal biodiversity while supporting local sea vegetable businesses.

The table will also feature books by Maine authors who dive into the world of seaweed, including Seaweed Chronicles by Susan Hand Shetterly—an intimate portrait of seaweed's ecological and cultural significance in Maine.

Drop by to explore, learn, and connect with the sea!
